4th Edition of “Festival in the Middle of the Street” in Caracas
On June 6, about 500 artists participated in the international “Festival in the Middle of the Street,” an annual multi-disciplinary festival of arts and crafts organized with the objective to rescue the public spaces as locations to practice and develop art. Already in its fourth edition, the event is organized as a circuit of stopover’s, each presenting a distinct art form, so as to allow the audience to immerse itself and learn its intrinsic details.
Organized by the organization platanoverde, this festival has become a key annual event where emerging Venezuelan and international artists test their skills against a very demanding public. In this occation, participating artists included El Teatro de la Uva, Calientópolis (Teatro Nueva Era), Andro-Ginos (from the University of Los Andes), Escena de Caracas, Performance Travelers, Cattleya, Sintéticas Asmáticas, Cortocircuito, La Quinta Larva y Kiari Bastardo, La olla común, and Impro-Burbujeante (dance and performing arts theater). Also participated visual artists Bakro, Calvo Punk, Dinamo, Sandra Betancort, Yaneth Rivas Vanessa, Iacono, Váyanse a la N Producciones, Alfredo Travieso y Pedro. J.M Gaona. Photography was represented by Oficina #1, Organización Nelson Garrido, y Susana Rincón with Albi de Abreu, Cine Átomo, Loops de Venezuela, In-Comoda, Maxuno y Martin Allais. Musical bands performed included TLX, Sin Sospechas, Los Domingues, Fauna Crepuscular, La Redonda, Vamos pa’lante, Quinto Aguacate, Los Mesoneros, Famasloop, Zion TPL, 0212, Elaine, Kemawan, KP 9000, La Gloria Mañanera, Jabón Eléctrico, Santo Jamin y Humanoides.
This year the festival also hosted an array of international artists specializing in street performances. German artist Johan Lorbeer, a specialist in defying the laws of gravity, French Ezec Le Floc'h will dance and juggling with the help of a Bilboquet For its part, Suso 33, Spanish street artist, has this year to paint the facade of a building with the words that leave the mouth of your audience. The U.S. trio Galumpha also gave a presentation with visual effects, acrobatic combinations, and innovative choreography and humor.
